How can we work differently in times of precarious isolation?
Why Working Together addresses the challenges of collective queer-feminist work.
The film weaves a dialogue between three layers: the long-term collaboration of the filmmakers themselves;
Helke Sander’s 1978 feminist landmark film "redupers";
and the lived realities of contemporary Berlin-based collectives (FEM_ARC - architecture, COVEN BERLIN - art, and POLYMORA INC. - performance).Â
Following the breakup of their own collective, the filmmakers initiated this project as an exchange with fellow collectives to explore and redefine collaborative work through artistic practice. In this film, collaboration is not just the topic; it is the fundamental methodology.
Published in "frauen und film" issue n.73 – "Generations".

A cinematic dialogue between archived violence and the living memory of colonial resistance.
Kilichobaki | What remains explores the complex landscapes
of memory, loss, and restitution. The project was realized by a German-Tanzanian film collective,
mirroring the collaborative effort to renegotiate post-colonial history.
The film follows a unique traveling exhibition of looted objects and ancestral remains,
centering on the intergenerational struggle of two families—the Marealle and the Meli
—for historical justice and the return of their heritage. At its heart is the legacy of Chief Meli, a resistance leader executed in 1900
whose head was taken to Germany.
Weaving together personal testimonies, museum archives, and artistic animations,
Kilichobaki bridges the gap between German institutions and Tanzanian communities, offering a sensitive lens into colonial continuities
through local perspectives.
